Annie Adams Fields — 14 Feb. 1862
To ANNIE ADAMS FIELDS
February 14, 1862, Wheeling
My dear Mrs. Fields,
I send the warmest greetings this snowy day to you and Dr. Putnam[1] for the effort you both have made to give me pleasure. You speak of a breath of spring. It is like a breath of spring to send words as genial and pure as his.
To see you in Boston! I think of seeing my unknown friends there as if a most uncertain hope away off in the future. But I mean never to give up the hope until it and you are not phantoms as now, but realities. I wish I could hope you desire the day to come as I do.
Very truly,
Rebecca B. Harding
