James T. Fields — 26 Jan. 1863
To JAMES T. FIELDS
January 26, [1863], Wheeling
Mr Fields
The letter came today enclosing the cheques. It was thoughtful in you to so promptly answer my request—I won’t forget that or any other friendly act. About the story[1] —I do not like the name at all—you will allow me to alter it? I will write about it in a day or two. That for business-- The other part of your letter brought the tears right into my eyes. I know you said it from your heart. I enclose a letter note to Annie—won’t you please give it to her?[2] With the sincerest regards to you both
I am yours always
