James T. Fields — 7 Mar. 1862
To JAMES T. FIELDS
March 7[?], [1862], Washington, Pennsylvania
Mr. Fields
[1] Will you be indulgent with me? I had planned and partly ended a new story for you, but I burnt it and began again this morning.[2] I am sure you would rather I would take time and write when I can write and so do you and myself and The Atlantic justice, wouldn’t you?
What number would you like to have the new story for? Please write to me. You spoke of sending ‘Margret’ to England. Did you? And did anything come of that venture? Do people like her enough to say “encore.” Shall you publish a second edition? I am out in the country and hear and see nothing. Will you address to me as below
Yours truly,
R.B.H.
