Brief Editorial Policy
Unless otherwise indicated, the copy-text for all work published during Davis’s lifetime will be the first published appearance in periodical or book form. Transcriptions are based on publicly available texts using OCR (when available) and hand transcription. Transcriptions retain original spelling and punctuation and do not attempt to replicate typographic features (ornamentation, typeface, or other aspects of house style) of the original periodical or book publication. Errors in the copy-text (such as obvious misspellings) will be marked with [sic].
Each text also includes annotations in explanatory notes provided at the end of the text. Please scroll to the end of text to access explanatory notes.

The Rebecca Harding Davis Archive welcomes contact from anyone who wishes to contribute to the existing body of works. If you would like to transcribe a text or contribute a "Cultural Context" essay (a short 500 word piece on an issue relevant to Davis' life and work), please contact the Site Administrator for more information.
