I send David Gaunt by today’s mail. Won’t you let me know if you give him cordial welcome as soon as possible for if not I must stay at home and write something else. But I hope you will make a friend of David.

You said something of advancing more money on ‘Margret H’ and I forgot to answer. No, thank you. But I would like you to send me whatever this story is worth and let the $200 and ‘M H’ settle it between them. Write soon please. My kindest regards to Mrs. Fields

I had a letter from a publisher the other day saying if I would write a novel on ‘the rebellion’ & have it ready by fall he would make ‘liberal offers’ etc. What do you think? Had I better still abide by ‘the old flag?’ meaning T&F? [1]
